Master of Arts in Communication Program
The curriculum requires all students to complete a 15-credit core featuring two mandatory theory and research methods courses. Participants must also choose three out of four specialized courses covering organizational communication, interpersonal dynamics, media studies, or health communication. The remaining credits consist of electives tailored to individual interests. Students must complete either a thesis or internship to fulfill the 30-credit requirement, or alternatively complete 36 credits without these capstone projects.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have a baccalaureate in communication or a related discipline by the end of the semester in which they apply. The minimum cumulative GPA required for regular admission to the graduate program in communication is 3.25 on a 4-point scale. Applicants with undergraduate GPAs that do not meet the admission criterion may be eligible to be admitted with probationary status if they submit additional materials that speak to their ability to succeed in the program, such as current letters of recommendation or recent GRE scores. Contact the Graduate Program Director for more information. Finally, international students who are non-native speakers of English must obtain a TOEFL iBT score of 100 to be considered for admission.
International students are required to document English proficiency by providing scores from an internationally accepted standardized examination before a decision is made on admission. International students must score at least 100 on the iBT TOEFL exam (600pBT or 233cBT) to be considered for admission.
