Alongside the B.S. Ed., undergraduates can pursue a B.A. or B.S. in their field before entering the Graduate School for Master's-level teaching credentials. The College of Education offers Teach in 12, a one-year accelerated post-graduate certification program, alongside traditional certification routes. Certification graduate credits may count toward a Master's in Secondary Education with supplementary coursework. Prospective Master's-level teacher candidates should reach out to the College of Education's advising office (OASIS) at 314-516-5937. Important: DESE mandates a 3.0 GPA in both discipline-specific and professional education courses, plus a 2.75 cumulative GPA for certification.
Physicists explore the core principles governing forces, particles, and resulting material states that shape our physical universe. UMSL's Physics and Astronomy Department equips undergraduates with comprehensive physics knowledge and vital experimental/theoretical skills for scientific practice. The BA program allows students to merge intensive physics study with liberal arts and language coursework, making it excellent preparation for science-related careers like science communication, policy, or intellectual property law.
