Alongside the B.S. Ed., undergraduates can pursue a B.A. or B.S. in their field before entering the Graduate School for Master's-level teaching credentials. The College of Education offers Teach in 12, an accelerated one-year post-graduate certification program, alongside traditional certification routes. Certification graduate credits may count toward a Master's in Secondary Education with supplementary coursework. Prospective Master's-level teacher candidates should reach out to the College of Education's advising office (OASIS) at 314-516-5937. Important: DESE mandates a 3.0 GPA in both discipline-specific and professional education courses, plus a 2.75 cumulative GPA for certification.
Upon graduation, undergraduates should demonstrate the ability to:
Construct coherent, logically sound proofs.
Interpret, comprehend, and evaluate the validity of logical reasoning or mathematical proofs.
Translate problems or inquiries into appropriate mathematical frameworks.
Address challenges involving analysis, algebra, linear algebra, basic number theory, or introductory probability and statistics.
Exhibit fundamental competence in speaking, reading, and writing a language other than English.
