High school biology educators are deeply devoted to their field. They instruct students in the fundamental scientific theories needed to comprehend life sciences while fostering a respect for living organisms. These educators teach, mentor, support, direct, collaborate, and serve as role models.
The BS in Secondary Education with a Biology focus equips students to educate in grades 9-12. This curriculum combines essential biology coursework with hands-on classroom experiences in high schools, leading to Missouri teaching credentials.
This program collaborates with the Biology Department, providing access to research labs, teaching facilities, field studies, greenhouses, and advanced scientific equipment. While much of the coursework aligns with standard Biology BA/BS degrees, Missouri's DESE mandates additional specialized classes for teaching certification.
