Alongside the B.S. Ed., students can pursue a B.A. or B.S. in their chosen field as undergraduates before entering the Graduate School for Master's-level teaching credentials. The College of Education offers Teach in 12, a one-year accelerated post-graduate certification program, alongside traditional certification pathways. Certification graduate credits may count toward a Master's in Secondary Education with supplementary coursework. Those pursuing Master's-level teacher certification should reach out to the College of Education's advising office (OASIS) at 314-516-5937. Important: DESE mandates a 3.0 GPA in both discipline-specific and professional education courses, plus a 2.75 cumulative GPA for certification.
The St. Louis region has historically been a hub for industrial chemistry and has recently emerged as a thriving center for life sciences R&D. A chemistry bachelor's degree equips students with the skills to engage in this evolving sector. The B.S. is the STANDARD professional chemistry degree, preparing graduates for careers in the chemical industry, advanced studies in chemical sciences, or professional fields like medicine, business, or law. The department encourages undergraduate participation in active research initiatives.
