The School of Natural Resources provides a single graduate program in natural resources, featuring seven specialized focus areas across various disciplines. These include water resources, agroforestry, human interactions with natural resources, fisheries and wildlife sciences, forestry, parks and recreation management, and soil, environmental, and atmospheric sciences.
For forestry students pursuing research or academic careers, coursework can be tailored to specific scientific fields with a thesis relevant to forestry. Advanced graduate studies are offered in areas like forest management, soil science, landscape ecology, fire ecology, hydrology, GIS applications, plant physiology, policy studies, silviculture, stand dynamics, water quality assessment, wood science, and dendrochronology.
Collaborative research opportunities exist with experts from organizations such as the Northern Research Station (U.S. Forest Service), Missouri's conservation and natural resources departments, the National Park Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
