The master's program with a thesis component spans two years. Starting in their second semester, students must take on teaching assistant roles. During the initial year, participants complete mandatory courses, fulfill teaching assistant duties, and gain lab experience. Students should choose both a laboratory and faculty advisor by the conclusion of their first semester, along with assembling their thesis committee. The final year involves additional coursework, continued thesis research, and ultimately presenting and defending the thesis.
