The Department of Human Development and Family Science boasts a nationally acclaimed faculty renowned for their research, instruction, and student guidance.
Our robust mentorship initiative starts immediately upon a student's admission to HDFS. We thoroughly equip our students to excel as academic professionals in both research and teaching capacities. The career pathways we prepare students for are unmatched in their diversity. Since 2000, our program has successfully placed more faculty in research-intensive family science departments than any comparable U.S. program. We also train PhD and master's candidates for practical roles in administration, program assessment, and initiative design. Graduates hold positions at universities, colleges, government bodies, research centers, and social service organizations across the U.S. and globally. We've earned exceptional recognition as a premier institution for studying life-span diversity and multiculturalism in individuals and families. Our inclusive approach to diversity encompasses various dimensions of difference, including race, ethnicity, economic background, age, family composition, nationality, geographic origin, and sexual orientation.
