The Theatre and Performance Studies PhD program at MU equips students with the expertise and analytical abilities needed for academic careers exploring theatrical history, performance theory, critical analysis, performance ethnography, scriptwriting, adaptation techniques, dramaturgical practices, and theatre education methodologies.

To earn the doctoral degree, candidates must fulfill these requirements:

A customized curriculum developed with guidance from the student's advisory team.
Supplementary coursework to meet the department's doctoral minor specifications.
Written and oral qualifying examinations.
Original dissertation research culminating in a successful oral defense.
