The doctoral program in philosophy with a focus on learning disabilities provides advanced training in this specialized field. Participants will design a customized curriculum aligned with their academic and research objectives in learning disabilities.
Program Requirements
Qualified applicants receive provisional admission, are paired with an advisor, and must complete specified foundational courses.
After earning 9 credit hours (including 3 credits in quantitative methods and 6 credits in special education doctoral core classes), students must pass a comprehensive exam for full departmental admission. Following successful exam completion, candidates assemble a guidance committee and create a study plan. This committee must include four or more graduate faculty members (with at least three from within the department and one external member). The study plan outlines required coursework and competency demonstrations to fulfill departmental expectations.
