Every graduate program in the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, encompassing both master's and PhD degrees, is research-focused. Consequently, choosing a suitable graduate advisor is a crucial step in the application process. Prospective students are strongly advised to reach out to potential advisors before submitting applications to explore graduate study possibilities.
Doctoral candidates must fulfill the MU Graduate School's minimum requirements, which consist of 72 semester hours post-bachelor's degree (including research and readings credits) as authorized by their doctoral advisor. A maximum of 30 hours from accredited post-baccalaureate coursework may be transferred toward the doctoral program. Additional information can be found through MU Graduate Studies online. Research opportunities in integrative anatomy, genetics, pathobiology, cancer biology, and neuroscience benefit from specialized equipment in departmental labs. Faculty and staff offer mentorship and hands-on oversight for clinical, translational, experimental, and fundamental research projects.
