The Bachelor of Science in Education for Middle School Education equips students to teach fifth through ninth graders in public, private, and alternative educational settings. This degree path suits those who are passionate about mentoring young learners, aspire to shape the future through teaching, and seek to positively impact students' lives. At MU, education majors collaborate with experienced mentors, classroom teachers, school leaders, and faculty to build expertise that improves educational results for children and teens. The College of Education & Human Development curriculum examines educators' roles in supporting learning across developmental stages while addressing how cultural, political, historical, and economic forces affect students, teachers, and institutions. Hands-on field experiences start in the second year and progress each term, culminating in a capstone teaching internship that refines instructional abilities and self-assurance. The program covers both universal teaching methodologies and subject-specific pedagogical approaches.
