As a vocal performance student at Mizzou, you'll enjoy numerous performance opportunities, both individually and with groups. Weekly instruction includes a private one-hour lesson plus studio class participation. The program offers multiple choral groups and an active opera workshop, meeting regularly throughout the week. Collaborative experiences include working with instrumentalists on chamber pieces and learning from visiting artists through master classes.
Vocalists showcase their talents in various campus events, including the Voice/Piano Collaborative Recital using period instruments, the annual Friends of Music Gala, Convocation recitals, degree recitals, and community engagement performances. Students also compete in prestigious events like NATS and MTNA competitions. The Opera Workshop features fall semester scene performances, while spring brings fully staged productions and aria programs.
