Physical therapists (PTs) are licensed healthcare providers who assess and treat patients across all age groups, from infants to seniors, addressing medical issues or health conditions that impair mobility and daily functioning. PTs conduct evaluations and create customized treatment plans to enhance movement, alleviate pain, improve function, and minimize disability. They also focus on preventive care by designing fitness and wellness initiatives to maintain mobility and promote active, healthy living.
The University of Missouri provides a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. This advanced degree is awarded to select students admitted through the Advanced Admission pathway into the DPT program. Enrollment in the Bachelor of Health Science in Preprofessional Physical Therapy is restricted to students who have successfully secured Advanced Admission to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
