The Geography Department at MU provides a Bachelor of Arts program that equips students for diverse professional paths, such as roles in environmental impact evaluation, cartography, remote sensing, GIS analysis, public service, military intelligence, and teaching. Geographers explore a broad spectrum of subjects and frequently collaborate in cross-disciplinary groups to tackle issues like environmental shifts, resource management, and economic concerns in our interconnected global society.
A key advantage of the department is the integration of extensive university research resources with the close faculty-student engagement typical of smaller institutions, fostering a tight-knit community. Courses generally feature small class sizes and are led by professors who prioritize experiential learning methods. Students carry out numerous projects in a cutting-edge computer lab. Whether their interests lie in human geography, environmental challenges, or spatial analysis, MU Geography offers the resources and expert guidance to support students through the often daunting process of earning a degree.
GIS education prepares students to work with the array of technologies transforming geographic analysis, including Geographic Information Systems, GPS, remote sensing, digital cartography, and spatial statistics.
