The field of plant and microbial biology explores every dimension of plant and microorganism life, ranging from molecular processes to genomic studies and ecological systems. Learners examine plants across various scales, from microscopic cellular components to entire organisms and ecological communities. The program offers hands-on research experiences in laboratories and field settings locally, nationally, and globally. Individual academic paths are customized through a diverse core curriculum while maintaining flexibility for personal specialization. This cross-disciplinary learning environment encourages innovative research by fostering connections between different scientific fields and specialties. Students gain access to advanced research training that prepares them for professional paths in academic institutions, corporate research, public sector roles, or non-profit organizations.
Anyone who has or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable degree from an officially recognized college or university outside the U.S. may apply for graduate admission.

The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.00.

To receive full consideration for financial aid, students must apply for fall semester admission by January 14.
