The Oral Biology Program, an interdisciplinary initiative led by the School of Dentistry, collaborates with faculty from the Medical School, College of Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine. This program equips students with research expertise and comprehensive knowledge about the development, structure, function, and disorders of the orofacial complex. Participants can concentrate on one of five specialization tracks: biomaterials and biomechanics, epithelial biology and cancer research, microbial and immune system studies, sensory neuroscience, or bone biology with craniofacial development and tissue engineering. Highly motivated students may develop personalized focus areas beyond these options, though they should consult the graduate studies director prior to application. The curriculum offers significant adaptability, enabling students to tailor their studies by incorporating relevant courses from other fields to match their academic goals.
