Marking over 100 years of Entomology at the University of Minnesota, we're delighted to showcase our department where scholars and researchers explore the vibrant and varied realm of insects. Entomology focuses on insect research, with concentrations in ecology, behavior, molecular biology, microbiology, neurobiology, physiology, population dynamics, systematics, and taxonomy. Applied fields cover beekeeping, biological pest control, tissue culture, insect preservation, disease vector relationships, sustainable pest management, and computational modeling. Our research spans aquatic ecosystems, forest environments, agricultural systems, public health, and both rural and urban landscapes.

Qualification Requirements

Anyone who has or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable degree from an officially recognized college or university outside the U.S. may apply for graduate admission.

The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.00.

Other requirements to be completed before admission:

A bachelor's degree with a major in a biological science is a prerequisite. Preference is given to students with a broad background in the basic sciences.
