The veterinary medicine graduate program emphasizes the scientific exploration of disease transmission and development in domestic animals, wildlife, and humans, with practical applications for diagnosis, prevention, and therapy. The curriculum covers infectious and noninfectious diseases, epidemiology, environmental biology, animal behavior, and various pathobiology disciplines. The PhD track develops independent researchers for academic, corporate, or public sector roles, while the MS program builds technical skills to advance research and clinical careers. Participants select from four specialized research concentrations.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.25.
DVM or equivalent; students with a BA or BS in biological sciences may be considered. Previous laboratory experience is preferred.

Submission of all application materials by December 1 is required to ensure consideration for fellowships and research assistantships awarded for the next academic year.
