The feminist studies PhD program equips students with advanced expertise in feminist theories, interdisciplinary approaches, research methodologies, and teaching practices. With a particular focus on feminist theory and global women's diversity issues, the program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration by connecting doctoral candidates with graduate minors specializing in their respective disciplines. Its curriculum highlights how gender intersects with social factors like class, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and national identity. These intersections are explored across various domains including cultural media, colonial power structures, scientific advancements, philosophical frameworks, professional fields from healthcare to policy-making, and justice movements addressing social, political, and environmental concerns.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.50.
Preferred but not required: Academic training/undergraduate degree in gender, women, and/or sexuality studies, or related field; Master’s degree in gender, women, and sexuality studies or a related field; Activist or political advocacy in these areas is considered but not required
