The four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program includes one year of preparatory coursework followed by three years of specialized nursing instruction. Candidates gain admission to the nursing sequence upon fulfilling all prerequisite requirements, with new cohorts starting each fall semester. This full-time program primarily operates during daytime hours, equipping future nurses with the critical thinking skills needed to address modern healthcare challenges and diverse patient needs. Upon completion, graduates qualify to sit for the RN licensing exam and obtain public health nurse certification. The nursing school holds accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). At the University of Minnesota's School of Nursing, we advance patient care through innovative education, groundbreaking research, and community engagement. Students benefit from instruction by globally recognized faculty who foster analytical reasoning, clinical expertise, and leadership development. Both undergraduate and graduate students can participate in faculty-led research initiatives and community service projects. The program utilizes cutting-edge educational technologies, including online platforms, interactive television, and other digital learning tools across our Twin Cities and Rochester campuses.
