The applied economics program equips students with a robust understanding of economic principles and their practical applications to enhance societal well-being. Foundational coursework covers microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometric methods, while specialized classes explore areas like environmental economics, international development, agricultural markets, and public sector economics. Applied economics majors cultivate advanced analytical capabilities, quantitative reasoning skills, and effective written communication. Graduates have launched careers across government agencies and private industry, while others have advanced to graduate programs in economics, law, business administration, or public administration. Note: Agricultural and food business management students cannot pursue department minors in AFBM or APEC; instead, we strongly recommend considering university-wide minors or CSOM's specialized minors for AFBM students.
