The Bachelor of Science program acknowledges that numerous disciplines in biological anthropology and archaeology rely on scientific approaches rooted in empirical evidence. This degree cultivates proficiency in these research methodologies through coursework both within and beyond Anthropology. Candidates for this degree must complete 20-24 credits in Quantitative and Natural Sciences outside the Anthropology department. The curriculum includes multiple laboratory courses where students develop skills in formulating scientific inquiries, designing studies, gathering and interpreting data, and applying findings to refine hypotheses. Even non-lab courses prioritize research competencies, analytical thinking, and clear academic writing.
This BS program serves as strong preparation for diverse anthropological careers including evolutionary studies, molecular anthropology, geoarchaeology, archaeological chemistry, and forensic applications.
