The agricultural education program equips students with comprehensive knowledge of agricultural, food, and natural resource sciences while cultivating professional teaching abilities. Through specialized coursework in education and agricultural studies, students gain the tools to become skilled and impactful instructors. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience, with students applying classroom theories in real school settings, learning from seasoned educators, and completing a culminating teaching internship. Though primarily designed for school-based agricultural instruction, the program also prepares graduates for diverse roles across the food and agriculture sector. Students develop sought-after competencies including communication, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills, along with teaching experience and broad agricultural science and business knowledge. Career paths include agricultural teaching positions, training roles in agribusinesses and organizations, as well as opportunities in sales, management, and customer service within the agricultural industry.
Student are required to have a high school graduation
A GPA above 2.0 is preferred for the following: 2.50 already admitted to the degree-granting college; 2.50 transferring from another University of Minnesota college; 2.50 transferring from outside the University
English Language Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL iBT – 79; IELTS Academic – 6.5; Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE Academic) – 59; Cambridge Assessment English (CAE) C1 Advanced – 180.
Application Deadline for Fall: For freshmen international students the deadlines are November 1 (early action 1 deadline), December 1 (early action 2 deadline) and January 1 (regular deadline)
