The graphic design curriculum teaches students design principles, user-focused approaches, theoretical foundations, innovative solutions, and visual communication skills. It focuses on visual elements: the ways people exchange, process, and comprehend visual messages. The program cultivates adaptability, helping graduates adjust to evolving social, cultural, and technological shifts in design. With a comprehensive base, students start with core visual studies before advancing to specialized courses for careers in both print and digital design. A 1-3 credit internship is mandatory.
Student are required to have a high school graduation
A GPA above 2.0 is preferred for the following: 2.50 already admitted to the degree-granting college; 2.50 transferring from another University of Minnesota college; 2.50 transferring from outside the University
English Language Proficiency Requirements: TOEFL iBT – 79; IELTS Academic – 6.5; Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE Academic) – 59; Cambridge Assessment English (CAE) C1 Advanced – 180.
Application Deadline for Fall: For freshmen international students the deadlines are November 1 (early action 1 deadline), December 1 (early action 2 deadline) and January 1 (regular deadline)
