Classes investigate variations in speech, language, and auditory functions, aiming to utilize this understanding for detecting, preventing, and addressing communication disorders. The SLHS bachelor's degree delivers comprehensive liberal arts training within this multidisciplinary academic area. Course content establishes fundamental knowledge about human communication, encompassing both speech production and language comprehension. While we typically overlook these intricate mechanisms, impairments resulting from illness, congenital conditions, or age-related changes can significantly impact an individual's quality of life. SLHS as a discipline establishes benchmarks for typical versus atypical communication and develops the scientific basis for assessing and treating communication challenges.
