The dual degree program awards both a Master of Science (M.S.) from the School for Environment and Sustainability and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning (M.U.R.P.) from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning. This curriculum equips students with analytical capabilities, scientific and theoretical knowledge, and socio-behavioral insights to excel as professionals. Career opportunities span various fields such as environmental planning, land use management, open space conservation, policy analysis, and environmental equity. Following Rackham Graduate School policies, participants can apply one-sixth of the total credits needed for both degrees toward both programs. By combining the 48-credit M.U.R.P. and 42-credit M.S. programs (normally 90 credits), students can complete a condensed 75-credit, three-year program by sharing 15 credits between both degrees.
Applicants complete a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association; or complete an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned.
