Nurse-midwives and pediatric primary care nurse practitioners offer healthcare services across different life phases, including pregnancy, delivery, postpartum recovery, infant care, women's reproductive health, child wellness checks, and treatment of common acute and chronic conditions. Many nurses pursuing advanced midwifery degrees opt for dual certification in pediatric primary care, enabling them to broaden their practice beyond maternal health. The U-M School of Nursing faculty are dedicated to delivering thorough training to help students achieve both board certifications successfully.
By integrating the core strengths of U-M's highly ranked Nurse-midwifery and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner programs, this initiative develops culturally aware professionals capable of delivering complete primary care. Their scope encompasses women's healthcare throughout pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, newborn health, reproductive services, pediatric wellness exams, and addressing common acute and chronic medical conditions.
