In our Pharm.D. curriculum, medicinal chemistry combines with pharmacology to provide a comprehensive understanding of how drugs work. While pharmacology examines drug effects on cells, tissues, organs, and whole organisms, medicinal chemistry investigates molecular interactions - analyzing drug-target relationships from both perspectives, studying how molecular structure influences activity, and exploring how metabolic changes alter a drug's structure and effectiveness.
