The Business and Economics PhD program is a collaborative initiative between the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and its Economics Department. This dual-degree program aims to equip scholars with comprehensive training in economic theory and methodology, enhanced by specialized business application instruction from the business school. Tailored for students focused on microeconomic research with business implications, it covers fields like Industrial Organization along with business-oriented aspects of Labor, Environmental, Health, International, and Development Economics. Merging the academic rigor of an Economics PhD with the faculty expertise, resources, and financial support available through Ross, the program seeks to draw exceptional candidates who can engage with professors across both disciplines. Alumni of this innovative program will be highly sought after for academic roles in business school economics departments, traditional economics faculties, policy institutes, and public health schools seeking applied economics researchers.
