For nearly 45 years, the Macromolecular Science & Engineering Program (Macro) at the University of Michigan has stood at the forefront of polymer science and engineering. Based in the top-ranked College of Engineering, our cross-disciplinary initiative brings together students and faculty from the Medical School, Dental School, and College of Literature, Science, & the Arts. With 34 dedicated faculty members applying polymer expertise across twelve diverse fields, their research spans polymer creation, microfluidic systems, tissue regeneration, sensor technology, computational nanoscience, material mechanics, and nanoelectronic devices. Our faculty primarily come from various Engineering disciplines (Aerospace, Biomedical, Chemical, Electrical, Materials Science, and Mechanical), the Dental School, and Chemistry Department. As an interdisciplinary hub, Macro welcomes students from diverse engineering and scientific backgrounds, with current participants having studied various engineering fields along with chemistry, biology, and physics.
