Tailored for students pursuing the most advanced qualification in their discipline, the DMA offers an intensive three-year program that concludes with three doctoral recitals or performances instead of a traditional dissertation. This doctoral qualification is granted based on proven proficiency rather than accumulated credit hours. Typically, finishing the program demands six semesters of full-time study after obtaining a master's degree. Candidates are anticipated to achieve official candidacy status by the start of their sixth term.
