Tailored for students pursuing the most advanced qualification in their discipline, the DMA offers an intensive three-year curriculum that concludes with three performance recitals and an academic paper instead of a traditional dissertation. This doctoral program evaluates candidates based on proven proficiency rather than accumulated credit hours. Typically, students complete six semesters of full-time study following their master's degree to finish the program. Achieving candidacy status is anticipated by the start of the sixth term.
