Tailored for students pursuing the most advanced qualification in their discipline, the DMA is an intensive three-year program that concludes with five performance recitals instead of a written thesis. This doctoral credential is granted based on proven proficiency rather than accumulated credits. Typically, finishing the curriculum demands six semesters of dedicated study following a master's degree. Candidates should achieve official candidacy status by the start of their sixth term.
Applicants to the Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano must have completed a master’s of music degree or equivalent to be eligible for admission.
