The Movement Science (MVS) program equips students for various healthcare careers, including medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, and biomedical research. Through a combination of classroom instruction, lab research, and practical experiences, the program explores the mechanics, control, and physiology of human motion. MVS highlights three key areas: Biomechanics uses mechanical principles to analyze movement, providing excellent groundwork for advanced studies in prosthetics, ergonomics, rehabilitation medicine, or physical therapy. Exercise Physiology investigates how the body's metabolic, hormonal, and cardiovascular systems respond to both short-term and sustained physical activity, preparing graduates for healthcare roles or further study in biomedical research and therapy fields. Motor Control studies how neural processes, behavioral patterns, and cognitive factors influence movement learning and coordination throughout life, with applications in therapy professions and other medical specialties.
