Graduates of the undergraduate Secondary Certification Program are equipped to become skilled, compassionate, and thoughtful educators, certified to teach grades 6-12 in their selected subject areas. The program's coursework includes academic learning, professional training, and hands-on field experiences. This equips graduates with both teaching methods and subject-specific expertise, preparing them to support diverse learners in middle and high school settings. During the program, students acquire the necessary experience to integrate technology into modern 21st-century classrooms. Upon successful completion, candidates receive a bachelor's degree from the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters and a recommendation from the College of Education, Health, and Human Services faculty for the Michigan Secondary Standard Certificate, with endorsements in their major and optional minor teaching specialties.
