The Stamps BFA program emphasizes creative development: fostering analytical skills, idea realization, social involvement and teamwork, along with technical proficiency and artistic refinement. Alongside studio classes, students can engage with and incorporate diverse academic disciplines offered across the University of Michigan.
The initial year establishes a core studio curriculum while allowing students to investigate their intellectual pursuits. By sophomore year, learners start selecting specialized studio electives while maintaining academic studies outside Stamps, actively building cross-disciplinary relationships that will shape their creative practice for the remaining program duration. The final two years offer exceptional adaptability, as students progress through elective studios and interdisciplinary studies beyond Stamps, culminating in advanced 400-level studio projects.
