The interdisciplinary MENAS program, available as both a major and minor, provides students with comprehensive knowledge of the region. Courses and faculty are drawn from various departments in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA), with their collaboration creating a diverse understanding of historical and current regional matters. Though emphasizing the modern Middle East, the curriculum includes courses linking ancient history to modern events, alongside advanced language instruction in regional tongues like Arabic, Armenian, Hebrew, Persian, and Turkish. CMENAS provides undergraduate students with major and minor pathways. Nearly 70 faculty affiliates—experts in Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) studies across disciplines like anthropology, political science, history, classical studies, and literature—contribute to the program. Students can pursue both broad and specialized coursework across multiple fields.
