The Actuarial Mathematics curriculum offers comprehensive education in the fundamental mathematical principles that govern private and social insurance systems, as well as employee benefit programs. The coursework is structured to help students prepare for various professional certification exams administered by the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Society of Actuaries. Each semester, non-credit preparatory courses for select actuarial exams are available - consult your academic advisor for scheduling details. Passing certain exams prior to graduation is highly advisable. Gaining practical experience through summer internships is a crucial part of the program, with students urged to secure such opportunities by the end of their third year. For fulfilling upper-level writing requirements, either Math 422 or 427 is recommended.
