Fundamentally, an Entertainment Lawyer offers legal guidance, consultation, and representation to businesses and individuals (artists) across various entertainment sectors such as television, film, radio, music, theater, publishing, digital platforms, and gaming. While they may work with directors, actors, or musicians, these attorneys typically focus on advising production companies, content distributors, firms licensing celebrity brands, and those involved in corporate acquisitions or music catalog transactions. Key legal domains in this field encompass intellectual property, contract law, corporate matters, employment/labor issues, securities, international regulations, taxation, immigration, and dispute resolution. This challenging profession demands both deep legal expertise and specialized knowledge of entertainment industry practices.

The entertainment law curriculum equips students to advocate for all types of professionals within the entertainment sector.

Beyond working with performers, these attorneys frequently counsel production firms, content distributors, brand licensing entities, and companies engaged in mergers or catalog acquisitions.
