The University of Miami's Creative Writing Program, housed within the English Department, provides a rigorous two-year course of study with an optional third year, focusing on reading, writing, and teaching creative writing. Situated in Miami—a vibrant, multicultural hub—the program enables students to explore their creative voices through writing while engaging with diverse literary works and receiving expert faculty guidance. As the only MFA program in the country with a strong multilingual emphasis, UM faculty actively embrace the linguistic and cultural diversity students bring to their craft. Beyond non-English languages, this multilingual approach welcomes various linguistic styles, including regional dialects, colloquial speech, and specialized terminology.
