Over the last ten years, catastrophic events like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, destructive hurricanes with subsequent flooding, and the Japanese tsunami have highlighted the fragility of coastal infrastructure worldwide. Additionally, there's been growing pressure to enhance port security and expand coastal monitoring systems. Effectively tackling these challenges requires both marine science expertise and engineering capabilities to develop sensible solutions and help coastal areas adapt to climate shifts. The College of Engineering and Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science have partnered to provide a collaborative non-thesis Master's program in Ocean Engineering.
