The Department of Industrial Engineering aims to deliver modern, applicable education and research in industrial and systems engineering, equipping students with the expertise to enhance manufacturing and service systems while fostering continuous education and addressing evolving societal demands. The Department provides a Ph.D. program in Industrial Engineering tailored for engineering graduates. Graduate students must enroll every fall and spring semester to maintain active status; otherwise, readmission approval becomes necessary. After fulfilling all coursework and research credit requirements, students must maintain Research in Residence enrollment until degree completion, which counts as full-time study. Degree completion timelines are rigorously enforced, with exceptions requiring approval from the Graduate School Dean. Ph.D. candidacy is achieved after meeting course requirements, passing qualifying examinations, and successfully defending the dissertation proposal.
