The Department of Biomedical Engineering provides a dual-degree program enabling students to earn both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (BS/MS) in Biomedical Engineering simultaneously. This opportunity is exclusively for eligible students currently pursuing the undergraduate Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Miami. Designed for qualified individuals, this pathway allows them to obtain both a baccalaureate (BSBE) and a Master of Science (MSBE) degree within five years, instead of the typical 4+2 year timeframe. Both degrees are conferred together once all combined requirements are fulfilled.
Juniors in any of the four BME Concentrations with a minimum 3.0 CGPA may apply for the combined BS-MS in Biomedical Engineering program.
Accepted students must maintain at least a 3.0 CGPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA in their final 30 credit hours to satisfy Graduate School criteria.
Up to 6 credit hours of Technical electives completed in the fourth year can be applied toward the 30 credit hours needed for the MS degree. Depending on their schedule, students might also complete an extra 6 credits of graduate courses during their fourth year.
