The School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) and the Graduate Program in Public Health at the Miller School of Medicine offer an accelerated 5-year combined Bachelor's to Master's program in Public Health, known as the 41 Program. This initiative enables students to obtain both a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) and either a Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) within five years.
Participants in the 41 Program complete 12 credits of graduate-level public health courses during their final undergraduate year. These credits count toward both their bachelor's degree and future master's requirements. By finishing these graduate courses as undergraduates and taking an additional 3-6 credits the following summer, students can earn their master's degree by the end of their fifth year.
The graduate-level courses taken during undergraduate studies are billed at standard undergraduate tuition rates. Only the remaining graduate coursework completed after earning the bachelor's degree is subject to graduate tuition fees.
