Students examine communication's significance and investigate its theories in both personal and professional contexts. The SoC Communication Studies curriculum combines practical research with theoretical foundations, enabling students to enhance their understanding of human interaction across interpersonal, intercultural, and organizational environments. Distinguished faculty members, who hold leadership positions in top communication associations, work closely with students and colleagues to continually advance knowledge in communication studies. The curriculum features courses such as Interpersonal Communication, Nonverbal Communication, and Argumentation and Critical Thinking. A key focus area is the growing discipline of health communication, developed through partnerships with the UM School of Medicine and other university resources.
