The 3D art studios are situated at 1535 Levante Avenue. Every graduate student enjoys access to their own private workspace. These individual studios are complemented by an expansive covered outdoor area available for student use.
The 3D program encompasses ceramics, glasswork, and both traditional and conceptual sculpture. Students can engage with diverse techniques including clay handbuilding and wheel throwing, glass casting and blowing, as well as metal casting, woodworking, and welding for sculpture. The sculpture department also supports video art, performance pieces, and installation work. UM's glass studio, founded in 1985 within the ceramics department, has grown into an essential component of the 3D program. Initial facility upgrades to support both the visiting artist initiative and university credit courses were made possible through funding from Miami Hot's Founders Group.
