In today's digital landscape, cybersecurity has become critically important. During a September 2016 address, U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker highlighted a nationwide shortage exceeding 200,000 cybersecurity professionals. The University of Minnesota has consistently led in cybersecurity innovation. Our Center for Information Assurance has secured multimillion-dollar research funding and holds the prestigious designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in both Cyber Defense Education and Research (CAE-CDE, CAE-R) from the NSA and DHS. The Bachelor's in Computer Science program aims to prepare graduates who, within several years of completing their degree, will: Apply computer science principles to address challenging problems, demonstrated through successful entry into and progression within the tech industry. Value continuous learning and professional growth by engaging in graduate studies, specialized training, certification programs, or active participation in professional organizations.
All students, both freshmen and transfer, must apply online for admission as an undergraduate student.
