Receive advanced professional training at the master's level and get ready to work with cutting-edge energy systems. UMass Lowell provides two pathways that open doors to diverse career prospects. The Renewable (Solar) Engineering track (offered through the Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department) launched more than 25 years ago with a solar energy focus, but has since broadened to include multiple renewable technologies like wind turbines, fuel cells, and clean combustion systems.
Renewable energy specialists are pioneering sustainable solutions worldwide. Whether developing small solar-powered irrigation systems in rural Peru or enhancing offshore wind turbine performance in Rhode Island, our students and alumni are creating meaningful environmental and societal benefits.
In the US, renewable energy facilities have outpaced all other power sources in recent capacity additions, a trajectory expected to persist as increasing numbers of states mandate renewable integration into utility energy mixes.
