Qualification Requirements
Candidates must submit the required application materials, university requirements and program-specific requirements, for consideration.
2 letters of recommendation. Applicants will be required to provide the recommenders name and email address so we can contact the recommender for the letter of recommendation.
Statement of purpose: 300 - 600 words. Indicate your graduate study objectives, research interests and experience, and business or industry experience if applicable. If you are applying for a teaching or research assistantship, include any special skills or experience that would assist in assistantship decisions.
Official transcripts: from all post-secondary institutions attended (regardless if a credential is earned or not). Transcripts should show class rank if available.
Official GRE score: sent directly from ETS, copies/scans not accepted.

Although Biology graduate students typically have an undergraduate degree in biology, we encourage persons from other disciplines with a strong biology emphasis and interest to apply. In any of the programs, a strong applicant will have a solid knowledge of chemistry, physics and biology (e.g. cellular, molecular, evolutionary and organismal). Before applying to the programs, it is highly recommended that you contact the Biology faculty member(s) with whom you are interested in studying to discuss project possibilities.
We require a minimum score of 72 IBT on the TOEFL or BAND 6.0 on the IELTS or a 52 on the Pearsons PTE Academic for entrance to any program and a minimum score of 79 IBT on the TOEFL or BAND 6.5 on the IELTS for consideration for a teaching assistantship. Some programs require higher minimum scores.
